Abstract

This study was done to explore the gender difference in relationship between reading habits of students in public sector college libraries of district Gujranwala. “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”. Reading is a key for acquisition of knowledge, skills and expression of thought especially in this modern era of science and technology. The college library plays a vital role in the promotion of reading habits among students. A survey was carried out from a sample of 375 students of the 15 colleges of Gujranwala district. Structured Questionnaire was used to collect information from the population. However, there was no gender difference found in reading habits of public sector college students. So, this study recommends that there should be a functional library for both male and female to improve their reading habits.
